George T. Jackman

My name is George T. Jackman and I am a United States Marine Corps veteran. I served as a Reconnaissance Marine, Hostage Rescue Team Member, Search and Rescue Swimmer, aircraft hydraulics mechanic, and finished up as a recruiter in New England. After departing the Marine Corps I became a recruiter working with engineers…opening a new chapter in my life. The intangible traits that were harnessed and matured in the Marine Corps, leadership, decisiveness, confidence, and self-reliance, opened many doors for me and transferred well into business. As I succeeded in business, I became sought after by startup companies and eventually had enough experience to become a vice resident. Eventually, I decided to start my own companies where I could take ownership of an organization and build it to its potential.

One day my son heard about a free Master's program for veterans who qualified so I applied and was accepted. It was on the opening night of this program that I met a representative from the New Hampshire Military Coaching Alliance (NHMCA) who connected me with Mark. Mark was the owner and CEO of a full-service domestic call center. Through his hard work, technical competence, and foresight he grew the company, sold it, and is now retired. Mark had a desire to give back to those who served this country with his time, knowledge, and professional network. When I met Mark I soon realized how much I did not know. He has become instrumental in my personal development, the growth of my companies, and has become a mentor to my son, the company VP. I have nothing but respect for Mark and would never have met him if it wasn't for the NHMCA.

Today our family has three businesses. Truly, Truly Clean, a commercial cleaning company, Holiday Resorts, a company specializing in affordable luxury vacationing, and Prime Cut Hair Salon. Truly, Truly Clean is a high-performance cleaning company that also provides staffing at our client facilities. My military experience helped us create a workplace culture similar to what I experienced as a young Marine. As a result we have a very low turnover of staff and customers, as well as a waiting list of potential clients, which allows us to pay our staff in the top 10% of our industry. Mark's counsel, business acumen, and friendship he has taken us from a family business to one of the fastest-growing commercial cleaning companies in New England. Our next phase of growth is to franchise our company when Mark thinks we are ready. When I first left the military in 1998 I felt that no one really cared about those who served…we took care of ourselves. I can no longer say that. Between the Masters program for Streetwise MBA and the NHMCA I feel incredibly blessed to be part of these amazing networks.

I should also mention my faith played a role in my success. Before I became a business owner I had a calling to minister and became a pastor. I am still an active minister today and help oversee our church’s work in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Inda, Nepal, and Haiti.
